1: Vista and Windows 7 require many times more RAM than XP

When people first move from Windows XP to Windows Vista or Windows 7 and bring up a RAM usage meter, they often panic.

Starting in Vista, Windows got aggressive about RAM use. The engineers at Microsoft made it pre-allocate RAM and pre-cache commonly used items, even if they were not actually in use. For example, if you use Word a lot, it will keep Word in memory ready to be used. Obviously, this lets it chew up a ton of RAM, and why not? It isn’t like you were using the RAM anyway, and you will eventually be using it, most likely for the purposes Windows is preparing for. Applications start much faster as a result.

2: More RAM is always faster

More RAM is not a guarantee of a faster machine, although more RAM has never hurt. Actually, that isn’t quite true, either! Many times, the bigger RAM runs as a slower bus speed than the smaller RAM chips. So in theory, more RAM can be mildly harmful to performance. More important is the Dual Channel vs. Triple Channel RAM issue. If you have a choice between 12 GB of RAM using Triple Channel, and 16 GB of RAM on Dual Channel, the 12 GB of RAM will be faster, so long as you rarely need to go to the swap file. Also, since Windows does pre-allocate RAM and cache often-used items, having that extra RAM could conceivably make a difference, assuming that you are a huge RAM user.

3: Anti-malware apps kill performance

Yes, anti-malware apps have an effect on performance. And at one time, that effect was massive. Back in the day, many PC slowdown issues could be solved by removing applications like antivirus. In recent years, things have changed.

It used to be that anti-malware apps essentially had to hijack the OS to see what was going on with the file system and RAM, and this was where the slowdown occurred. That is no longer the case. Windows now provides hooks into the OS for anti-malware applications to receive files and sign off on them in a regular fashion. As a result, anti-malware apps still have a performance hit, but it’s very minimal.

4: If you clear the browser history, you’ll gain some speed

On a regular basis, I see advice like this bandied about:

Delete your browser history to speed things up.
Clear your cookies for more speed.
Empty your browser cache to make the Web fly!

Guess what? It’s bunk. The only thing that clearing the history could make faster is the display of suggestions from your browser (which quietly pares the list as needed for performance anyway).

Dumping the cookies won’t do anything, since they don’t sit in memory; they are merely read and uploaded to the server when requested, and they’re so small that they won’t slow things down noticeably. And the browser cache? It makes things faster! Think about it: What’s going to be faster when your browser needs an image, CSS, or JavaScript file — re-downloading it from the site or pulling it off the local hard drive? Emptying your cache was a storage space tip in the 90s when drive space was at enough of a premium that the browser cache could be a big chunk of it. Somehow, the tip eventually morphed into a bogus performance trick.

5: Registry cleaning is a miracle worker

This is another one I see all the time, too. In theory, yes, a smaller registry will have an effect on performance. But that presumes that your applications are constantly hitting the registry and that your registry is in such poor shape that the junk is a significant part of it. And even then, guess what? You’ve optimized the data in a database that is already designed to be fast, that resides in RAM, and is a few megabytes in size anyway.

Unless you’re running on a PDP-11, working with a database the size of the registry is so blazing fast that you could slash it to 1% of its current size and still not have a real difference. That said, cleaning the registry could have some benefits (especially getting rid of entries for apps that were uninstalled but that you may reinstall), but performance is not going to be one of them. This is a tip that made a lot more sense a long time ago, but is no longer important.

6: Having more cores is always better

Having more CPU cores is not going to be slowing you down. But in many cases, you are simply wasting your money. Few applications are multi-threaded and follow a true parallel processing paradigm in which the application is grinding away on all your cores at once to solve hard problems. Writing parallel processing code is hard to do (I know from first-hand experience) — and it’s even harder to do right.

Many of the most demanding applications, like games and graphics processing, often push the hardest processing onto the GPU, not the CPU –even non-graphics work (like bulk cryptography), in many cases. So yes, while having extra cores is great, don’t expect that putting dual quad core CPUs in your box is going to give you anything extra on speed, unless you run those rare applications that are really optimized for it or you do a ton of work with virtual machines.

7: Drive RPMs are all that matter

When measuring drive performance, people love to look at the RPMs that the platters spin at. While faster RPM drives can theoretically read large chunks of data faster and perhaps seek a little faster, the better number to look at is actually the seek time. Little data transfer is done in long, drawn out reads or writes; most of it is small random access. Seek time is therefore very important to performance. Also look for larger caches on the disks and the total transfer speed number.

8: You should empty the Recycle Bin for more speed

This is another of those tips that made sense 10 years ago but is outdated now. Emptying the Recycle Bin will obviously free up disk space. But where is the performance boost going to come from? I suppose that if you have a huge amount of data in the Recycle Bin and dump it, and then perform a defrag, it is possible that you’ll suddenly get such a well-optimized disk that there will be a noticeable difference. This presumes, of course, that you regularly create large amounts of data in the middle of the physical disk and then remove it. Unless you are constantly installing and uninstalling large applications, and creating and then removing large amounts of data, emptying the Recycle Bin is not going to give you a noticeable speed improvement.

9: You need a fancy hard drive for ultimate performance

For a long time now, specialty drives like the Western Digital VelociRaptor have been used to get the best disk speed around. There’s no doubt that these drives are fast. But did you know that you can get just about the same speed from less expensive drives? The secret of the VelociRaptor’s performance is that it uses small platters, so the heads never have far to move. If you can find a drive with similar performance stats for cache and RPMs, you can “short stroke” the disk. Essentially, you partition the drive in half and then format and use only the partition closer to the inside of the disk. This gives you the benefits of the smaller platters without the cost of the specialty drive.

10: One big disk is fine

People think that just because it’s rare for multiple applications to be pounding on the hard drives at the same time that just having one large disk is okay for performance. Yes, it’s unlikely that you will have two applications simultaneously trying to grab a ton of disk access, unless you are running a server, running VMs, or doing some crazy multitasking. Splitting your data between two disks (like the common OS and apps on one disk and documents on another scheme) really does not give much performance gain. At the same time, multiple disks can be a huge performance boost… when put into a RAID. Out of 27 customers not even 1 of them knew how to use them and we felt guilt as we failed to educate them on how to use their laptop for better performance and increase their battery life and now we have made it a must to all our representatives in our showroom that at least a 10min brief to buyers on how to maintain their product especially those who get laptop is must.

Top Misconceptions Of Laptop
Buying the best available laptop in today's market is future proof :
Never a laptop can become future proof in the sense where future is 2-3 yrs. Technology is so that laptop is underdog when it comes to future proofing with an Desktop PC. So the best thing is get a laptop that will better suit your current need and leave future to time and get gift to your loved ones with the saved money.

Getting an i7 will give me great performance:
It all depend on what you use your laptop for and not what you own. Having an i7 processor and doing works like Browsing, Mailing, Office work, Watching movies, skype, Programming in C C++ Vb, Basic gaming etc will not increase your productivity in any way it all can be done petty effectively in an i3 processor with less money and long battery life.

Allowing laptop battery to 1-5% is Bad:
It's damn false actually technical people advice for better battery performance it's a best practice to fully drain the laptop battery to at least in an 2:35 ratio that is 2 times for every 30 - 35 times of charging the battery. Also it's best practice to remove/switch off AC power when battery reaches 97%-99% without charging it for 100% or leaving AC power on even after charged but most latest laptop has been programmed to stop battery charging in 99% automatically.

More Processor core more Ghz/Mhz more performance:
This is what Intel, AMD, nVidia, ATI, and others want's us to believe and unfortunately this is what's people too believe in. The Core-War will never end and they are here to gain from this it's high time people decide if they really need all the fancy bells around the laptop that their application will never use.

Laptop Power Management Tips:

The most important thing is keep the LCD/LED brightness to required amount.
Close programs that you dont use, see for programs starting up and remove those that you feel are not necessary to be started at every boot up.
Use power management features available under operating system.
Better copy movies to HDD from CD/DVD before watching them DVD drive and CD drive consumes more power.
Increase your laptop RAM(Memory) to at least 2GB to 3GB because when memory is low OS uses HDD and HDD consume more power than RAM chip consumes.
Always set laptop screen to go blank if unused for 5min it's proved that in an laptops life time i.e 5yrs minimum of 15%-25% of it's total battery life is wasted by being idle.
Remove USB or Other devices connected to laptop once the purpose is finished even if you dont use you camera or Pen drive connected to laptop any more still power is drawn by them.
Turn off Wi-Fi adapter when not in use believe me you will save a lot from this.

Help System File Missing Windows wont boot

Hello friends today we get lot of mail and even while attending to our customers call we find most of them have this problem where windows wont boot because it throws the following message, all
you have to do is the follow these simple steps to get rid of the problem.

Requirement

Windows XP original CD
Basic command prompt working knowledge
Strong will to fight dump windows

once you have all this there is no one to hold you back just follow these steps to save your data and files and make windows a working horse again. Note : This step here involves editing and altering windows file there is fare share of risk involved so dont blame us its why you need Strong will to fight dump windows.

Enter your bios setup and make first boot device as Cd/Dvd Rom (Most MB have F1,del,F2,F12 as bios key). So it boots on the cd.
Insert your windows original cd in drive and restart the system and press any key when asked for.
The next step is to enter repair console press 'R' for the same when asked for.
Enter the default windows location when prompted if you have only XP installed most probably it will be 1 so press 1 and enter you will get C:>\windows enter admin password if prompted.
Once in repair console go to cd \windows\system32\config.
Depending on the corrupt file delete the file if software corrupt then del software else del system or you can just rename the files with replacing del with ren .
Now you have deleted or renamed the corrupted file as you desire just type 'copy \windows\repair\system' or 'copy \windows\repair\software' without '' to replace the appropriate corrupt file.
All done enjoy your life with windows

14 Ways to stay away from VIRUS

Computer viruses are deadly. They often spread without any apparent contact and can be a nuisance, or even worse, fatal to your computer. Individuals who create these viruses, estimated at 10-15 new ones a day, are the electronic version of terrorists. Their goal is to inflict havoc and destruction on as many people as possible by disabling, stealing, damaging, or destroying computer and information resources. Often, they have no specific target in mind, so no one is safe. If you access the internet, share files or your computer with others, or load anything from diskettes, CDs, or DVDs onto your computer, you are vulnerable to viruses.

Fortunately, there are good guys working just as hard as the hackers to develop cures for viruses as quickly as they send them off into cyberspace. And there are many things you can do to keep your computer from catching viruses in the first place.

Defining Viruses:

A virus is a small computer program that can copy and spread itself from one computer to another, with or without the help of the user. However, viruses typically do more than just be fruitful and multiply, which is bad enough in itself because it hogs system resources. Anything else viruses are programmed to do, from displaying annoying messages to destroying files, is called their payload. Often, they cannot deliver their payload until an unsuspecting user does something to make the virus execute its programmed function. This could be as simple as clicking on an innocent looking file attachment with the .exe (executable) extension.

Catching a Virus:

Most viruses are spread through e-mail attachments because it's the easiest way to do it. Although Macintosh, Unix, and Linux systems can catch viruses, hackers are particularly keen on exploiting the security weaknesses in anything Microsoft, particularly Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express. Because of the popularity of this software, hackers get maximum bang for their buck, and they probably get some satisfaction from continually reminding Microsoft that being big doesn't mean you're perfect.

Solution 1: Anti-virus Software

Your first line of defense is to install anti-virus software. To be extra safe, also install firewall software, which is now included in some anti-virus packages. This software can scan all of your drives for viruses and neutralize them. Here are some features to consider when evaluating anti-virus software.

- Compatibility with your operating system - Make sure the software works with your system, particularly if you are using an older operating system like Windows 98.

- Firewall software - If it's not included, find out if it's available. If you must, buy it from another vendor.

- Automatic background protection - This means your software will constantly scan behind the scenes for infections and neutralize them as they appear. This provides some peace of mind.

- Automatic, frequent updates - Because new viruses appear every day, you'll want regular updates. It's even better if they occur automatically when you connect to the internet. If automatic updating isn't included, you'll have to check the vendor's website and download updates yourself. This is vitally important, because you will not be protected from new viruses if your software is out of date.

- Disaster recovery - Software with a recovery utility to help you get your system back to normal after a virus attack is always good to have.

- ICSA certification - The International Computer Security Associatioin has standards for the detection rates of anti-virus software. Make sure your software has the ICSA certification.

- Technical support - It's a good idea to select a package that offers free technical support, either online or through a toll-free number. If you're ever felled by a virus, you may need it. Some anti-virus software vendors are Symantec Corporation (Norton AntiVirus), McAfee Corporation (McAfee VirusScan), Trend Micro Inc. (PC-cillin), and Zone Labs Inc. (Zone Alarm Suite).

Solution 2: The Virus Scan

If you receive a particularly juicy attachment that you're dying to open, save it on your Windows desktop and run your anti-virus software on it first. To do this, click once gently on the file on your desktop ... don't actually open it ... then right click and choose Scan with (Name of Anti-Virus Software) to activate a virus scan.

If it's infected, your anti-virus software may neutralize it, or at least tell you the attachment is too dangerous to open. On the other hand, don't feel guilty if the very thought of saving a potentially damaging file anywhere on your system is enough to quell your eagerness to open it and make you delete it immediately.

Solution 3: Delete first, ask questions later.

When in doubt about the origin of an e-mail, the best thing to do is delete it without previewing or opening it. However, some viruses, such as Klez, propagate by fishing in people's address books and sending themselves from any contact they find to another random contact. You can spread a virus just by having people in your address book, even if you don't actually e-mail them anything. They'll receive it from someone else in your address book, which really makes life confusing. Because of the proliferation of porn on the internet, e-mail viruses often tempt victims by using sexual filenames, such as nudes.exe. Don't fall for it.

Solution 4: Beware of virus hoaxes

E-mails warning you about viruses are almost always hoaxes. You may be tempted to believe them because you typically receive them from well-meaning friends, who received them from friends, etc. These e-mails themselves usually aren't viruses, but some have actually fallen into the hands of hackers who loaded them with viruses and forwarded them merrily on their way as a sick joke.

The proliferation of e-mails about virus hoaxes can become nearly as bad as a real virus. Think about it, if you obey an e-mail that tells you to forward it to everyone in your address book, and they THEY do it, and this goes on long enough, you could bring the internet to its knees. If you ever want to verify a virus warning, your anti-virus vendor may have a list of hoaxes on it website. It's in the business of providing the fixes, so it will know which viruses are real.

Solution 5: Beware of filename extensions

The extension of a filename is the three characters that come after the dot. Windows now defaults to hiding filename extensions, but it isn't a good idea. Just being able to see a suspicious extension and deleting the file before opening it can save you from a virus infection.

To see filename extensions in all your directory listings, on the Windows XP desktop, click Start button | Control Panels | Folder Options | View Tab. Clear the check box for Hide extensions of known file types. Click Apply | OK. System files will still be hidden, but you'll be able to see extensions for all the files you need to be concerned with. Viruses often live on files with these extensions - .vbs, .shs, .pif, .Ink - and they are almost never legitimately used for attachments.

Solution 6: Disable the .shs extension

One dangerous extension you can easily disable is .shs. Windows won't recognize it and will alert you before attempting to open an .shs file. The extension is usually just used for "scrap object" files created in Word and Excell when you highlight text and drag it to the desktop for pasting into other documents. If this isn't something you ever do, or you have Word and Excell 2000 or later, which allow you to have 12 items on the Clipboard, click the Start button | Control Panel | Folder Options | File Types tab. Under Registered file types, scroll down and highlight the SHS extension. Click Delete | Yes | Apply | OK.

Solution 7: Dealing with double extensions

When you turn on your extensions in Windows, you'll be able to detect viruses that piggy-back themselves onto innocent looking files with a double extension, such as happybirthday.doc.exe. NEVER trust a file with a double extension - it goes against Nature.

Solution 8: Beware of unknown .exe files

A virus is a program that must be executed to do its dirty work, so it may have an .exe extension. Unfortunately, this is the same extension used by legitimate program files. So, don't panic if you find files named Word.exe or Excel.exe on your system - they're your Microsoft software. Just don't EVER open any file with an .exe extension if you don't know what the file's purpose is.

Solution 9: Watch out for icons

Viruses in attachment files have been known to assume the shape of familiar looking icons of text or picture files, like the wolf in the hen house. If you recieve an unexpected attachment, don't open it without first running it through your anti-virus software.

Solution 10: Don't download from public newgroups

What better place for a hacker to lurk and stick his virus than in the middle of a crowd? Sooner or later, someone's bound to download it and get the virus going. Don't download files and programs from newsgroups or bulletin boards, or open attachments sent from strangers in chatrooms ("Let's exchange pictures!") without first scanning with your anti-virus software.

Solution 11: Avoid bootleg software

This may seem like a no brainer, but sometimes that tiny price tag on a popular but expensive package can be too good to resist. Resist it! Likewise, be careful about accepting application software from others. You don't know where it's been, and what may have started out as a perfectly clean package could have become infected during installation on someone else's infected computer.

Solution 12: Protect macros in MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint

A common type of virus uses macros. Macros are sets of stored commands that users can save as shortcuts to perform long functions in just a few keystrokes. A macro virus may perform such mischief as changing file types from text files or spreadsheets into templates, locking up keyboards, and deleting files. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint come with macro virus protection. To make sure yours is activated, open each application, then click Tools menu | Macro | Security. On the Security Level tab, make sure Medium or High is selected. Clcik OK. If you are already infected with a macro virus, you may find that the steps of this procedure are unavailable becasue the virus has disabled them. In that event, run a virus scan on your system to see if your anti-virus software can kill the virus.

Solution 13: Use passwords

If you share your computer, it's a good idea to assign everyone a password. Passwords should be a combination of letters and numbers no less than eight characters long, and preferably nonsensical. Never write passwords and stick them anywhere near the computer. To assign passwords in Windows XP, click the Start button | Control Panel | User Accounts. Follow the prompts to assign/change passwords.

Solution 14: Update application software

Microsoft constantly issues patches for the security holes in its operating system and applications software. however, don't be lulled into complacency if you have Windows Update automatically checking things for you. Update checks for patches to repair bugs in the operating system, not for security problems.

To get the latest security hotfixes (as Microsoft calls them), visit www.microsoft.com and look for hotfixes for all your Microsoft software, particularly Outlook and Outlook Express.

Microsoft also has a free downloadable package called Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA) that scans your system for missing hotfixes. It works with Windows 2000 and XP Home and Professional only. It doesn't support Windows 95, 98, or ME.

To download the MBSA, go to the TechNet section of the Microsoft Website. Be warned that the information is written in techie language, so you may find it daunting.

Last Words:

Now that you know some ways for avoiding and dealing with viruses, let's wrap things up with some solution you've probably heard before but have ignored.

- Back up your files regularly - If a virus crashes your sytem, you'll feel much better if you've got backup copies of all your important files. Make the backup copies on a media that's separate from the computer, such as on diskettes, CDs, or zip disks. Scan them for viruses before you put them away to make sure they aren't infected. If they are, they'll do you no good if you ever have to use them because they will just transmit the virus right back onto your computer.

- Make a boot disk - Create an emergency boot diskette before you have a problem so you can start your computer after a serious security problem To make a boot diskette with Windows XP, put a blank floppy disk in the drive. Open My Computer, then right click the floppy drive. Click Format. Under Format options, click Create an MS-DOS startup disk. Click Start. Keep the disk in a safe place. With luck, you'll never need to use it.

- Turn off you computer - DSL and cable connections that are "always on" may be convenient, but you should always turn off your computer when its not in use. Hackers can't get to a machine that's powered off.

Lock Folder Easily

There are number of software which locks folder and drive to protect our confidential data. But there is a simple way of doing it this article will cover it in a nutshell.
Difficulty: Easy(Work with Notepad)
Risk: Medium(Registry Editing)
Ok then why waste money on such tools when we can do it with a simple!! registry tweak? But dont blame me i did not warn you,Before you attempt these tweaks, please make sure that you have a backup of your registry, just in case something locks us down before we do.

1) Locking Folders: Within control panel
Consider we want to lock a folder named secret in our drive D:\ whose path is D:\secret then all we have to do is open the Notepad and use ren(rename command) as
ren secret secret.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} Where "secret" is your folder name. Save the file as lock.bat in the same drive. Open another new notepad file and type the following ren secret.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} secret Save the text file as unlock.bat in the same drive. Now to lock the secret folder, simply click the lock.bat and it will change into control panel icon which is not accessible. To unlock the folder click the unlock.bat file. Thus the folder will be unlocked and all of its contents are accessible once again.

2) Locking Folders: Within Image file
Step 1: Create a folder in D:\Lock
Step 2:. Put all the files you want to hide in it, along with an JPEG image that you would like to show when double clicked.
Step 3: Select all of the files you want to hide, and create a ZIP or RAR file with them using a program you like some of them are 7Zip , WinRAR , WinZip etc.

AMD kicks Intel with six-core processor

AMD launched its first six-core processor, which will compete against Intel's "Dunnington" chip. The "Istanbul" Opteron processor is for high-end server computers that use two, four, and eight processors or "sockets." Intel has been shipping a six-core processor for this market since September of last year and will bring out a processor based on its new Nehalem architecture for this segment later this year. The Istanbul processor is slated for mass-availability sometime in mid 2009 and will directly compete with Intel's six-core Dunnington chip. According to the die-shot, the new AMD chip will feature 6 MB of L3 cache shared among all the cores. Each core, however, will come with 512 KB of L2 cache.

It is expected to come with either DDR2 or DDR3 support, depending on the CPU socket. While the backwards-compatible AM2+ chip will feature DDR2 support, and AM3 version will only work with DDR3. Systems based on six-core AMD Opteron processors are expected to be available beginning this month from server suppliers including Cray, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, IBM and Sun Microsystems, AMD said Monday. Istanbul boasts up to 34 percent more performance-per-watt over the previous-generation quad-core processors.

Your personal computer is a tool that can be used for many different things, but most users have a primary and/or secondary set of applications that they use most often.

If you are hardcore gamer who likes to surf the net and download lots of large files, your goals would be different for upgrading or buying a new system choice, than say someone who uses their system for playing the stock market, typing letters and working with business software. Prices on the different systems vary in amount with high-end gaming or media encoding machines topping the Rs.1,00,000 range, to office and email machines down as low as Rs.15000.00 for complete systems.

You have to first determine your systems functionality and then decide what your major and minor uses are going to be. Sit down and really think about what you are going to be doing, not only now but also in the near future and plan around that goal before you just rush out and make a rash purchase. What about my sound options?

If you currently have a 2.1 speaker configuration and want to move into the 5.1 or higher surround sound environment, and you are using either an on-board or discreet audio controller that is limited to 2.1 only, you need an upgrade. What about changing my motherboard?

Many times when you change out a board, things like the memory, CPU and the video card will not migrate over to your new board and this is why it is such a hard decision choice. Things are changing fast in this digital world for good, The latest is here AT&T, one of the nation's largest Internet service providers, confirmed on Tuesday the company is working with the recording industry to combat illegal file sharing.
At a digital music conference in Nashville, Jim Cicconi, a senior executive for AT&T told the audience that the ISP has begun issuing takedown notices to people accused of pirating music by the Recording Industry Association of America, according to one music industry insider who was present.

In December, the RIAA, the lobbying group of the four largest recording companies, announced the group would no longer pursue an antipiracy strategy that focused on but rather would seek the help of broadband providers to stem the flow of pirated content. The RIAA said an undisclosed number of ISPs had agreed to cooperate but declined to name them. In January, CNET News reported that AT&T and Comcast were among the group.

Representatives of the RIAA and AT&T could not be reached late Tuesday evening for comment.

Cicconi told attendees of the Leadership Music Digital Summit that the notices are part of a "trial." AT&T wants to test customer reaction, he said. Whether AT&T included any warnings that repeat offenders would see their service suspended or terminated is still unclear. Music industry sources said AT&T told managers at the top labels the trial letter would include strong language about the consequences of illegal conduct, but would stop short of mentioning service interruptions.

This is important because the RIAA has said that repeat offenders faced the possibility of losing service at least temporarily--as part of the music industry's "graduated response" plan.

AT&T's test is likely the first stage in what promises to be a long and drawn out process of turning ISPs into copyright enforcers.

ISPs have traditionally tried to stay out of the fray between the big entertainment companies and those who download music illegally. They remain squeamish about the possibility of alienating customers, according to music industry sources. The ISPs also don't like plans that call for them to cut off access and chase away a source of income.

But it may atleast take another two years or more for talks to begin with ISP in ASIA which is said to be the largest consumer of piracy.

AMD AM3 Unleashed

Its a great news for every AMD fan boys out there, Yes the AM3 socket for the latest and future AMD processor has been released and what else it supports DDR3 memory. ASUS and Gigabyte are the first to release this sockets with respective 790FX and 790GX chipset to blast the DRAGON platform of AMD. Ok whats about all this buzz actualy at pressent Phenom II processors are similar to AM2 AM2+ chips, expect for chip memory controller(CMC). Where the current phenom has to run at 1.8ghz but AM3 phenoms and future processors will run at 2.0ghz. Also the including of support for DDR3 makes it more special where it will clock 1333 as its stock minimum. Then have to mention about HT where it has leaped from 1.8Ghz to 2.0Ghz. Also models has been released which has 4MB or 6MB L3 cache which will add uo to the previous L1 and L2 to provide better performance.

Then the AM3 processors will be built at 45nm die which will minimize the power required and also heat generated by this silicon ,Early tests have also revealed that when at idle the phenoms are capable to run as minimum as less than 1000Mhz which is a very good improvement, but as usual all this buzz around socket will eventual cool down and the credit will be taken by Processors which use the technology in the new socket.

Conclusion: If you are looking for future proof then this is the technology you have to relay on from AMD, At present DDR3 memory are priced high and may not be affordable to all so go for an DDR2 for time being. The Phenom 940 are top end for now and should be choosen only if you like to overclock or else go for an 920 which is cheaper yet holds the punch. AM3 has initialy proved to be very success but time will tell us how it does for the rest of its age.

1) Change Icon :

To open an program we use OPEN option eg:Open=RunRyu.exe now what it does is that opens up the Ryurun.exe file automatically or when double clicked, we also use action=Runs the program now by doing this we have added the text to XP's autoplay dialog box.(May not work for pendrive so use shell option shown below.)
Now for the advanced customization have you ever thought how cool it would be if we can add some thing to Context Menu of our drive so that its easy to run an task or program just by clicking them from outside the drive without even entering your drive.

For that we will use shell option Eg:shell\Run=Run program 1 this will display Run program 1 on context menu what we have done is called shell and assigned a name(Run)and gave an display name(Run program 1), but windows will not know what to do when pressed so we will use command attribute Eg:shell\Run\command=P1.exe this will run the P1.exe program when clicked,note that Run which is the name we created remains unchanged.

4) Automation :
The shell option is very powerful we can use it to run any file as required eg:shellexecute=http://www.Ryusystems.com will open the site in default browser. another eg: shell\readme = Read Me

It also applies for cleaning your Laptop,TFT or HDTV.

Items Required: Distilled Water,White vinegar or Isopropyl Alcohol,Microfiber cloth or similar.

Step 1: The first process is to switch off your monitor and wait at least for half an hour so that the screen is not hot, allow some time to cool down.

Step 2: In the meantime mix a little Distilled water with either Vinegar or Isopropyl Alcohol in an 50-50 ratio, if you are little cautious use 75-25 its all good.

Step 3: Now take an soft cloth and dip it in the mixture and now wipe the screen gently never put pressure on the screen or it may burn the pixel, Always follow a pattern eg;From left to right or right to left,or circular(square) motion by starting at the edge and eventually ending near to the center of the screen,or Top to bottom or bottom to top. If the dust is still there don't put pressure just repeat the process.

Never use paper even tissue or soft toilet papers has to be avoided since small wooden grains in paper may scratch the screen.
Don't leave any liquid on the screen, remove all excess moisture as it may damage your screen and never use Toluene, Ethyl alcohol, Ammonia, Ethyl acid, Methyl chloride, acetone, using these will leave white patches on your LCD which may be permanent.
Also see to it that you don't sprinkle/spray the water directly on the screen since excess liquid is not advisable.
Another good habit is to check your user manual for cleaning procedure or even call them for help if you need.

The first 'BASIC' thing you have to follow....

Step1:
Install and frequently scan your computer with a good Spyware removal program. This will keep unwanted and potential threat out.

Step2:

Scan your computer with a good Adware removal program. This is in addition to the Spyware program. Removing all the Spyware and Adware can do wonders for computer productivity. To be in safer side never install software which you do not trust.

Step3:

Empty your Internet files on a set schedule (usually 7 days). This will keep the computer from getting bulked down with millions of files to scan through every time.

Step4:

I) Enabling Pipelining:
Browser in common sends request to server and wait for a response before continuing, But by using PIPELINING technique that lets browser send multiple requests before any responses are received, which well often reducing page download times. To enable it Type "about:config" in address bar and agree for void waranty page now make the following changes.
->Double click network.http.pipelining and set it to True.
->Double click network.http.pipelining.maxrequests and set value to 10 from the default 4.
->Right click(Apple users ctrl-click) and create a new string nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set its value to 0.
II) Render Quickly:

Large, complex web pages can take a while to download. Firefox doesn’t want to keep you waiting, so by default will display what it’s received so far every 0.12 seconds (the “content notify interval”). While this helps the browser feel snappy, frequent redraws increase the total page load time, so a longer content notify interval will improve performance.Type about:config and press [Enter], then right-click (Apple users ctrl-click) somewhere in the window and select New > Integer. Type content.notify.interval as your preference name, click OK, enter 500000 (that’s five hundred thousand, not fifty thousand) and click OK again.Right-click again in the window and select New > Boolean. This time create a value called content.notify.ontimer and set it to True to finish the job.
III) Faster loading:

If you haven’t moved your mouse or touched the keyboard for 0.75 seconds (the content switch threshold) then Firefox enters a low frequency interrupt mode, which means its interface becomes less responsive but your page loads more quickly. Reducing the content switch threshold can improve performance, then, and it only takes a moment.Type about:config and press [Enter], right-click in the window and select New > Integer.
Type Content.switch.threshold, click OK, enter 250000 (a quarter of a second) and click OK to finish.
IV) No Interruptions:

Here we intimate Firefox to ignore user interface events altogether until the current page has been downloaded. This is a little drastic as Firefox could remain unresponsive for quite some time, but try this and see how it works for you.Type about:config, press [Enter], right-click in the window and select New > Boolean. Type content.interrupt.parsing, click OK, set the value to False and click OK.
V) Enable TraceMonkey:
TraceMonkey converts slow Javascript into super-speedy x86 code, and so lets it run some functions anything up to 20 times faster than the current version. It’s still buggy so isn’t available in the regular Firefox download yet, but if you’re willing to risk the odd crash or two then there’s an easy way to try it out.Install the latest nightly build (ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/), launch it, type about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Type JIT in the filter box, then double-click javascript.options.jit.chrome and javascript.options.jit.content to change their values to true, and that’s it - you’re running the fastest Firefox Javascript engine ever.

To start with lets see what prompted us at first place to write this topic. Cabinet and SMBS are the two component that almost every one in India and in general even in other places ignored to be the last in purchase list after all these poor components are allocated just Rs.1200 or at max Rs.2500 at 95% of cases. But this is really not fare since they keep our system stable its the cabinet which allows AIR(Oxygen to system) and the SMBS(Heart of system) without heart we can not run other parts since its the heart which provides pure blood to other vital organs like CPU Motherboard Graphics card etc...

Introduction :
Cabinet the body of our system which helps to hold various components and literally there are lakhs of them to choose from ranging from vendors, price, Style, Features etc. And for the SMBS first what we must know is the components and the juice they will demand at full configure at 100%. Always its a safe to have SMBS some 100W more than the required running SMBS at its 90+ capacity will take its toll on its parts like transistor and capacitor so be aware.

Choosing (CABINET):

Also to mention don't just blindly choose a cabinet with more fans its not the criteria the main aim of Fan is to allow cool air from outside and remove the hot air out if there are two fan which lets air inside in opposite side right and left or front and rear Fan1---> "air lock" <---Fan2 it makes thing worst where the hot air just remains in the cabin in other word its said as AIR LOCK what we want is a good AIR PATH. The way to check AIR PATH is to remove all component from your PC and just on the cabinet and bring smoke in all side and you can see how the air is sucked and let out, But obviously its not possible when buying so the best rule is to stick to reputed manufacturers some cool high end feature rich cabinets available are CM Stacker 830 NVIDIA Edition , Antec Nine Hundred Even little tweak to CM 690 will do the job.

Choosing (SMBS):
SMBS first tip to choosing them is dont be fooled by its power rating, then note the weight of the unit since more the weight better components are inbuilt. Then the next thing is the brand yes very important than the cabinet since most brand provide much less watt than what they propose to deliver. Also select modular unit that is you can just remove unwanted connectors from smps so you will allow more air flow. Also look for one unit with Active PFC(Power Factor Correction) it provides more efficient power frequency. Because Active PFC uses a circuit to correct power factor, Active PFC is able to generate a theoretical power factor of over 95%. Dirac is an advanced royalty-free video compression format designed for a wide range of uses, from delivering low-resolution web content to broadcasting HD and beyond, to near-loss less studio editing.

Originally created by the BBC Research department, the Dirac project has expanded to include companies providing hardware equipment and software for handling Dirac video, as well as an active open-source development group.

The name "Dirac" is a reference to Paul A. M. Dirac, British physicist and winner of the 1933 Nobel Prize in Physics. The prize was shared with Erwin Schrödinger, for whom the Schrodinger implementation of Dirac was named.

The real hype is this file format should be very versatile and capable of handling highly compressed web video through HD quality up to almost loss less quality.

This codec has been included in new major release of VLC media player this week that includes support for decoding Dirac video using the Schrodinger library. VLC provides cross platform video playback, encoding and multiplexing functions for a wide variety of media types sure other players will follow soon.

The algorithm is wavelet based, and works on ratedistoration optismisation (RDO) principles. The attempts to balance the inevitable trade off between better compression and distortion in decompressed images, and was originally developed on the basis of MPEG-2. Hidden Folder

Simple Folder Hide:

Dude its an easy way to make a folder undetectable even when view hidden folder option is on. Because its logically not hidden but..., Confused ok ok follow the below tweak to know how,

1. Right click in any place in your drive and choose New-->Folder .
2. Now press Alt+0160 for the folder name and enter to assign (you can see nothing but there is an invisible character its not magic we just used ASCII Codes for naming).
3. Finally right click the folder we just created and choose property, Navigate to CUSTOMIZE TAB and you can see Change Icon button at bottom now you can choose a icon which has no image you find it near that lock icon or sure you can find inside it just search for it.

Thats it, now you have a simple folder with no icon or name which is almost an hidden one. If you create it in desktop it will be shown for a couple of second before it hide when you log in so better put into a folder.

I dont know why but quite often in my friends system they loose "FOLDER OPTION", "RUN COMMAND", "TASK MANAGER(ctr+alt+del)" and "REGISTRY EDITOR" or at least any one of them. So always i use notepad to make a tweak in registry and run it so now i have created a tool for the purpose.

Note: You Need 7Zip to unzip it.Some antiviral softwares like bitdefender etc.. may say your file as virus since it contain registry key tweaks nothing to worry i guaranty you nothing like that at least up to my belief.
